Special visitors

The role of a special visitor is to help us to check if a person has the capacity to make certain decisions.

We can ask a special visitor to visit a person who has an arrangement or their decision supporter. As part of a visit, they can assess the person’s capacity to make certain decisions. They may talk to the person and decision supporter about the arrangement. They may examine and take documents, such as financial and healthcare records.

The special visitor must send a report to us after every visit.
