Code of Practice for Designated Healthcare Representatives
This code of practice provides guidance for designated healthcare representatives appointed under an advance healthcare directive to meet their responsibilities and duties under the Act by interpreting and giving effect to the directive-maker’s advance healthcare directive.
This includes following the guiding principles within the Act and working with other decision supporters and healthcare professionals. This code does not cover the process for making an advance healthcare directive which can be found in separate guidance in our Resources section.
